Marcin Rozpedski, originally from Warsaw, Poland, showed exceptional talent on the tennis courts from an early age. At 15, he moved to the United States to sharpen his skills at the renowned Van der Meer Tennis Academy in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Over the next five years, Rozpedski developed into a top-tier player, capturing the attention of tennis authorities back in Poland. In 1994, he returned to Poland and won a national title, earning him a spot on the Polish Davis Cup team. However, during a match against Nigeria in 1995, he contracted malaria, which ultimately brought his professional playing career to an early end.
Undeterred, Rozpedski returned to the U.S., where he earned a full tennis scholarship to UCLA in 1999 and played under the legendary coach Billy Martin. As a Bruin, he fell in love with California, eventually settling in Indian Wells, near Palm Desert. His passion for coaching led him to work with aspiring junior players, helping them reach their potential through programs like Rosie Casals’ Love & Love Foundation, which supports underprivileged tennis players. Rozpedski also trained and traveled with some of the world’s greatest players, including Serena and Venus Williams, Maria Sharapova, Anna Ivanovic, Victoria Azarenka, Steffi Graf, Andre Agassi, and Taylor Fritz.
In 2015, Rozpedski discovered pickleball, and his natural athleticism quickly propelled him to the top of the sport. That same year, he won multiple national singles titles, including the prestigious USAPA Championship and the Tournament of Champions, making him the first professional pickleball player to receive sponsorship. He defended his titles in 2016 and won the singles title at the US Open, followed by a doubles win in 2017 at the Tournament of Champions. His intense dedication to the sport was evident in his extraordinary singles record of 74-2 from 2015 to 2018.
While Rozpedski’s athletic career has been marked by numerous achievements, his greatest pride lies in raising three sons alongside his wife. He is committed to instilling in them values of integrity, hard work, and kindness, knowing that they will make a positive impact in the world.
